About the workshop
This workshop, aimed at all the audiences, from amateurs to professionals is about the different possibilities in photography, but that photographers never or rarely use today.

It's about creating an image with a lot of handmade work using human fantasy and creativity, some energy and just some basic materials (boxes, cans, chemicals and photo paper). There is no optical device (camera or photo lab) involved in the different processes that we will develop during the workshop.

This workshop is based on two old photographic techniques: the photograms and pinhole photography (camera obscura). In addition to these two primary techniques we will experiment using the "pinograma" technique, a combination of these two techniques and the calorigram: a frame created only with the energy of heat. New possibilities of creating photographic images using the imagination
and hand made work.

Ilan Wolff (Nahariya, Israel 1955). freelance photographer since 1981 and creator of large format works with camera obscura. His work is closely linked to the origins of photography, and is present in many museums and institutions around the world. It has been exhibited in the Museum of Long Island, New York, the Palais de Tokio, Paris, and the Kursaal de San Sebastian among others. He travels around the world with a van, which he uses as a camera obscura, and his base is in Seyssel, France. www.ilanwolff.com

A PRIVATE STORY ON THE VIEW. MIGUEL ROMERO
Duration: 1 day
Starting dates and schedule::
17th march. 11.00-14.00  17.00-20.00 h.
Students: 12 max
Fee: 50 €

The workshop, built in six hours an evolution of the view from the 50s to today. The result tries to offer a capricious vision that relates with success and "failure" (for which it does not share) a part of the world of the fixed image of our time. It will reflect on the keys that the contemporary image offers for its proper functioning.

An accelerated world needs pause and delay in the shot to be able to advance, we must stop to look and think about the look. The image overflows us and the high consumption of photographs makes us anxious before our screens, we are sick; the screen has become a place that sometimes appears as a great treasure and many others as a garbage dump. I intend to offer my way to images, a private and intimate path that shows a possible journey of the other many. My intention is none other than to walk and share my treasures.

Miguel Romero was born in Seville in 1971. Degree in Audiovisual Communication. Fiction, memory and the possibilities offered by the photographic medium are the main elements with which he plays to elaborate his work. The histories and visual pastimes are mixed with a continuous reflection on the world of the fixed image. His work has been exhibited in different galleries in Spain and abroad. Since 2004 he teaches at the Seville University.

Introduction
humid collodion is the most emblematic process of the second half of the 19th century. It documented expeditions, works of architecture and engineering and conflicts such as the American Civil War, while making the portrait possible for the public. In the 21st century, the progressive interest in the recovery of primitive photographic procedures (daguerreotype, calotype, collodion, salty paper, bichromate rubber ...) is leading an increasing number of artists to use these techniques; photographers like Quinn Jacobson, Sally Mann or Keith Carter among others, use collodion to carry out their projects. Currently working with collodion is not only opening a window to another time but an exciting way to create.

Contents
Historical and aesthetic introduction of primitive photographic processes. View and manipulation of original material from the period (1850-1890): cameras, optics, daguerreotypes, ferrotypes, ambrotypes and technical manuals. Use of specialized bibliography: monographs, catalogs, reprints ...

Preparation of chemistry. Handling, processing and finishing of materials. Realization of ambrotypes (positive images on glass) and ferrotypes (positive images on metal) by each student. Evaluation and analysis of the results.

The workshop includes a dossier on the process of wet collodion, chemical products and necessary material for the three days .:

This workshop is aimed at students, photographers, managers and curators of archives and museums, collectors of photography of the s. XIX and in general, to all those interested in the history of photography.
